Truck Oil Seals are a very important component of a truck’s engine system. They are designed to keep lubricating oil in and contaminants out of the system. Oil seals help reduce friction between rotating components and prevent oil leakage.
Truck oil seals are made up of a rubber seal and a metal housing. The rubber seal is normally made of a synthetic rubber such as nitrile butadiene rubber or polychloroprene which is a blend of these two rubbers. This rubber is designed to withstand high temperatures, pressure and oil viscosity. The metal housing is generally made of stainless steel or aluminum and is designed to provide the oil seal with adequate support and protection against the environment. The joint between the rubber seal and metal part can be filled with a sealing compound such as silicone or polyurethane. The combination of all these materials provides the oil seal with a good seal and long service life.
The primary function of a truck oil seal is to ensure the engine has sufficient lubrication. Without the oil seal, friction between contact surfaces could cause excessive heat buildup and damage to surfaces.
