NBR Nitril
NBR (Nitril), chemisch, is een copolymeer van butadieen en acrylonitril. Het acrylonitrilgehalte varieert in commerciële producten van 18% tot 50%. Naarmate het NBR-gehalte toeneemt, neemt de weerstand tegen petroleum-basisoliën en koolwaterstofbrandstoffen toe, maar neemt de flexibiliteit bij lage temperaturen af.

NBR-toepassingen
NBR-delen moeten uit direct zonlicht worden gehouden. Dit kan echter worden verbeterd door middel van compounding. NBR is het standaardmateriaal voor hydraulica en pneumatiek.
NBR is bestand tegen op olie gebaseerde hydraulische vloeistoffen, vetten, dierlijke en plantaardige oliën, vlamvertragende vloeistoffen (HFA, HFB, HFC), vet, water en lucht. Er zijn speciale lagetemperatuurcompounds beschikbaar voor vloeistoffen op basis van minerale olie. Door hydrogenering, carbonzuurtoevoeging of PVC-menging kan het nitrilpolymeer voldoen aan een meer gespecificeerd traject van fysische of chemische vereisten. De kwaliteit van nitrilcompounds hangt af van het percentage acrylonitril in het basispolymeer.
